I haven’t written a blog in a very long time. Mostly because anything more than 140 characters feels like a burden. But with Mayans MC gearing up, I thought I’d start to post some of the experience.
I’m in a van heading to the Salton Sea. Location scout. We will probably do 2 or 3 days of filming in the desert. I’ve been up since 5:30am. I went to bed at 3:25am. And you wonder why I’m edgy…
Not that you asked, but the secret to my success is that I surround myself with people who are smarter and more talented than I am. Many of them are in this van. My co-creator, Elgin James, my Line Producer from SOA and TBX, Jon Pare, my Production Designer from TBX, Giles Masters, my DP from TBX, Mike Spragg, my First AD from SOA, David Ticotin and my Location Wizard from SOA, Dan Cooley. I’m pretty sure they all got more sleep than I did. They seem happy. And they are speaking in complete sentences. I wish I could tell you that I was up writing the next 3 episodes of Mayans, but the truth is, I was navigating Karl Faireburne through the Regelino Viaduct in Sniper Elite 4. I like to end my day by slaughtering Nazis.
“Slaughtering the Nazi” is also my code name for masturbation, but that’s a whole different blog.
Anyhow… Mayans. It’s coming together. Casting is more than half way done. Still a few major roles to fill. I’m very encouraged by the actors we have hired so far. I’m looking forward to working with them. We start rolling cameras the first week of April.
Fuck. That’s soon.
For the fans, we are doing an in-depth documentary on the making of the pilot, so hopefully we will start releasing some BTS content via social media soon.
Coincidentally, “Releasing BTS Content” is another of my code names for masturbation.
I should stop now.
More to come.
